Saturday – explore the city!

Rise and shine! Follow your nose and find breakfast down one of the city's many laneways. Afterwards, explore the city from above at the Melbourne Skydeck, learn to surf at URBNSURF, unleash your artistic side with Leonardo da Vinci at THE LUME or follow the crowds to the MCG and catch a classic clash of the titans at an AFL match.

If sport isn't your thing, give your camera a workout at Artvo’s immersive art rooms or catch a tram to Collingwood and get lost among boutiques and breweries. Top off the afternoon at Holey Moley Golf, put your board game skills to the test at the interactive MONOPOLY DREAMS, or come face to face with Horridus at Melbourne Museum.

Come evening, soak up the carnival atmosphere at the iconic Moomba Festival, or head to Luna Park for thrills, spills, and sunset over the Bay. Are the kids fussy about dinner? Head to Grazeland where a parade of food stalls from churros to stir fries and burgers will keep everyone happy.

Sunday – culture, boating and life by the water

Head to the Royal Botanic Gardens for a guided walk with a First Peoples guide and learn about the ongoing importance of the gardens for the Kulin Nation. Continue your journey into Australia's Indigenous history with a visit to the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre.

Enjoy lunch with a different view of Melbourne – from the water! Gather a picnic and some snacks from Degraves Street and head down to Sandridge Wharf Southbank, to play captain for a few hours on a GoBoat. The kids will love watching you charter your own tour of the Yarra River, taking in sites like the MCG, Crown Casino and Docklands.

Extra time

Stay a little longer and enjoy some seaside fun in St Kilda, where you can watch yachts on the bay, stroll the esplanade, and soak up the glitz and glamour of Acland and Carlisle Streets. Give the kids a taste of resort life with a dip at the historic St Kilda Sea Baths and wind down after a long day with some popcorn and a double feature film at The Astor.
