Whether you're cutting up the slopes in the wintertime or crisscrossing the mountain on a bike in the summer sun, there's plenty to keep you entertained, inspired and on the move. When travelling across Mount Hotham, you will be visiting the lands of the Taungurung and Gunaikurnai People.

The snow down

Get set for action on skis, snowboards, toboggans and sleds at Australia's 'powder capital', which regularly posts Victoria's highest annual snowfall. Explore more than 320 hectares of snow fields, complete with downhill runs, cross country trails, jumps and terrain parks, not to mention ski-in, ski-out accommodation and 13 lifts to get you up the mountain. After a new challenge? Experienced skiers can explore Hotham's backcountry terrain on guided tours.

Après adventure

Satisfy your alpine appetite with an après ski aperitif and tasty meal at one of the mountain's restaurants or at Ramada Resort's Element in luxurious Dinner Plain, which also offers a supermarket and a range of accommodation options. Set out for a romantic picnic lunch on the slopes and watch the sun go down over the mountain.

Summer delights

Bask in short sleeves at Mount Hotham with average summer temperatures of 25 degrees. Walk along cross-country ski trails, trek to Falls Creek, or take the iconic Mount Feathertop Razorback Walk along the crest of the razorback from Mount Hotham to Federation Hut.

Saddle up for horse riding and cast a line into some of Victoria's best trout fishing waterways. Mountain bike along scenic downhill trails and coast back up on the chairlift, which operates over Christmas/New Year and again over Easter. Rock the mountain in January at the Cool Summer Festival, the highest independent music festival in the nation.

Take a tour

Summertime brings top touring opportunities, with spectacular views around every turn. Drive or cycle the 230-kilometre Bogong Alpine Way through Bright, Mount Beauty, Falls Creek and over Dinner Plain and Mount Hotham.
