Point Lonsdale

Geelong & the Bellarine

  • Point Lonsdale Lighthouse, Geelong and the Bellarine, Victoria, Australia

Breathe in the sea air, listen to the waves, and while away days on the foreshore at this little hamlet on the tip of the peninsula.

Take a dip at the sheltered bay beach, with its pleasant foreshore reserve. Wander along Point Lonsdale Pier for views of the lighthouse, or cast a line off the pier.

Take in dramatic scenery from high points along the ocean foreshore and look out over The Rip, the entrance to Port Phillip Bay where the ocean and bay waters meet.

Learn about local history with a tour of the famous Point Lonsdale lighthouse and visit the cave of 'Wild White Man' William Buckley, an escaped convict who lived for 32 years with the local Aboriginal population.
